SUMMER
GREEN HILLS HISTORIC
HOMECOMING
June 5, 2010
Green Hills Branch Library
3701 Benham Avenue
Community Room
WHAT IS THE HISTORIC HOMECOMING?
This Historic Homecoming is a FREE community event, organized
by TGHAP each summer, that highlights the history of Green Hills
with old photographs, memorabilia and storytelling. It's a great
venue for old friends to gather and reminisce about days of yesteryear.
It's a great way to learn about the community's history. It's
a great way to honor Green Hills past.
Besides viewing exhibits and displays, the highlight of the Homecoming
usually features a nostalgic discussion where guest panelist share
tales and fond memories of Green Hills years ago. If possible,
the library tapes this discussion to be preserved for historic
purposes.
WAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED:
* If you are a longtime resident of Green Hills and are interested
in nostalgia, you may want to help the Planning Committee plan
the day.
Email us to find out the "theme" for the
day and details.
* Help us spread the word: We need old photos of people, places
and things of Green Hills. Ask friends, family and customers to
look for old photos, brochures, menus, bulletins, news articles,
ads, etc. of Green Hills past that can be used in exhibits. If
you find old photos, please make 5" x 7" or 8"
x 10" photocopies of originals. Take them to the Green Hills
library to be used for Homecoming exhibits. Be sure to document
information with each photo (and leave your name/phone number
in case we have questions). After the event, all photos will be
donated to Metro Archives filed under Green Hills History.
* Donate time or items in some way. Please call Committee to find
out specific needs.
This year's event is organized and sponsored by The Green Hills
Action Partners (TGHAP), the Green Hills Library and The Green
Hills News.
